Exciting Weekend for GParks Ranger at the 12th International Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF) by Meeting New Friends!
KLEFF has been an active platform to advocate environmental and empower localized change from individual within. Partnering with KLEFF, GParks Ranger manage to reach out to more people to share about grassroot environmental education through experiential learning.
The full day activities (for everyone!) conducted throughout the weekend are Water Marblingand Marine Life Suncatcher. Using simple materials and tools, through floating on water tension and swirled into patterns, children transfer their designs by using a piece of paper. Through this upcycling activity, the method resemble similar approach to clean up oil spills in our water system. Whereas for marine life suncatcher, children learn about diffusion method on ways to absorb and create colourful combination on coffee filter. The addition of marine animal silhouettes cut outs adds imagination onto the masterpiece for their windows!
On the other hand, there’s few hands-on workshop exclusively for our registered rangers namely Tabletop Aquaponicsand Upcycle Glass Snow Globe. Using simple tools to grow vegetables and herbs, children can learn the fundamentals or permaculture by assembling a demo set to start growing. The simplest way of upcycling your glass jar is to transform them into handcrafted snow globe using garden pebbles, figurines and glitters! Through this, essentially to reuse, repurposed, and upcycled the old items into new product also to reduce wastes.
